What Alice Forgot

People have been telling me for ages to read this book and I'm so mad that I waited so long to! It was wonderful! I couldn't put it down. The premise was unique and really make readers think about the last decade of their lives. Alice Love suffers a severe concussion at the gym and wakes up concerned for her baby. She's 29 and pregnant with her first baby. She's madly in love with her husband. Imagine her shock when she finds out she's actually almost 40, she has three kids AND she and Nick are in the middle of a really nasty divorce. What happened in the past decade? She discovers that she's turned into a person who she's not sure she likes or recognizes anymore. The amnesia can be a blessing or a curse, depending on how she handles it. Clever, witty, heartfelt, and wonderful. Besides Alice's rediscovery if her missing years, we also get two smaller story-lines that focus on Elizabeth (Alice's infertile sister) and Frannie (their adopted grandmother who may finally be finding a love of her own in the nursing homes). A must read!

Nine Perfect Strangers

This Liane Moriarity book is so over the top and outrageous but you can't put it down. Even though the plot got more and more ridiculous as the story progressed, I LOVED the characters. Nine people decide that they are stressed and need a lifestyle change, so they sign up for a ten day cleanse at Tranquility House. It's a gorgeous estate in the middle of nowhere and participants will be treated to divine meals, massages, nature hikes, star-gazing, and meditation. The nine participants (all strangers) soon discover that there was a lot on the agenda that they most certainly had not signed up for. Silence, daily blood tests, fasting, and more unorthodox methods keep popping up. Soon the strangers kind of bond together as they try to get through their weird cleanse in one piece. There is a romance author who will soon be out of work, an ex football player, a family trying to cope with loss, a mom trying to rediscover herself after her husband took off with a new trophy wife, a young couple in dire need of counseling, and a devilishly handsome gay lawyer. Full of fun, a nice beach read.

Truly Madly Guilty

In the same vein as her previous novel, Big Little Lies, this fast paced novel will have readers screaming "What Happened!" the entire time. Alternating chapters show what happened after "the barbecue" and what happened the day of. Although the day of chapters start at the beginning of the day so it's not clear until the end of the novel what actually went down at the ill fated bbq. We see the characters all trying to go about their lives after some "disastrous" event took place, but the suspense is built up and keeps the readers trying to puzzle together what in the world went down. Just when you think you may have an inkling of what happened Liane Moriarity flips it around and you're back at square one. She is truly a master of suspense and in the most light hearted way possible, it's such a fun read and the characters are very well developed. An excellent new book from her. I can't wait for more!

I wish I could marry this book I love it so much. That is not an understatement either. This book was awesome. The cover art was awesome. The characters were awesome. The storyline was awesome. Everything is awesome (to quote the Lego movie)!!! I really enjoyed "The Husband's Secret," by Liane Moriarity so I was hoping I would like this one as well. Not to worry, I definitely LIKE this one a billion times better. Sooo good!!

The months leading up to the tragedy are viewed through the eyes of three kindergarten mothers; Jane, a single mother of an apparent "bully," Madeleine, an eccentric mother of three with too much to juggle, and gorgeous Celeste, wealthy mother to twins. Alternating with their version of events are snippets of the police reports and gossip of other kindergarten parents. The funny, intriguing, and horrifying view of events enhance the foreshadowing as you desperately try to figure out what is going on.

Thoroughly engrossing. This book made me briefly want to have kids so I could be as crazy and ridiculous as these mothers. A must read!

The Husband's Secret

Man I powered through this book, it took me no time at all to finish it! It wasn't a super challenging read, but at the same time it wasn't a mindless chick romance either, this had substance.

The story all centers around a letter. A letter that has remained hidden, forgotten, and unopened for over a decade. When Cecilia stumbles upon the letter in the attic addressed to her in the event of her husband's death, she is intrigued, but she decides not to open it... at least for now.

The letter will change lives, isn't that what the truth does? If it's opened it has the power to draw many seemingly different people together. The truth changes everything.

If you're looking for a quick, exciting, page turner then this is the book for you. With plenty of plot twists and a fast paced storyline this novel will have you turning pages at breakneck speed. Very innovative and fresh. A very enjoyable read.
