Tidewater Bride

Set in early American life, this historical romance shows just how complicated life in the new world could be. Selah is considered an old spinster by James Town Standards - she's pushing 30! This novel deals with hard topics like rape, slavery, and indigenous injustice although it still paints a much rosier picture then it probably should on some of those topics. A slow burn romance full of intrigue and adventure.

Nothing Short of Wondrous

I really like the concept of this series - inspirational historical romance set in different spots of American Wonder. The first book in the series took place at the Grand Canyon and this installment featured Yellowstone. Both have completely unrelated characters so there is no harm in reading this series out of order since there is no continuity. The US Calvary has just been tasked with patrolling Yellowstone and keeping not only the visitors, but the park safe as well. Widowed Kate Tremaine and her young son own and operate one of the few hotels allowed on the park. She's anxious that her lease be extended because this is the only home her son has ever known, plus she loves the geysers that her hotel looks out upon. Congress, Lieutenant William Prescott has been tasked to look over the part of the park that Kate's hotel is on and they strike an uneasy truce. Kate will show him the ins and out  of the land acting as their guide - in return Prescott and his men will help her with some manual labor around the hotel. The unlikely pair start falling for each other - and danger in the park draws them even closer together. Clean, wholesome, and fluffy. Great historical romance with a beautiful scenic background. 

A Distance Too Grand

I love the theme of this series "American Wonders Collection," how great is that?!? The next historical romance in the series will take place in Yellowstone! This inspirational series sells itself; who doesn't love romance, let alone in these iconic American places!

"A Distance Too Grand" follows twenty six year old photographer, Meg Pero, as she leaves the east coast to try her hand at being a photographer on an expedition to the Grand Canyon. Her father has died so she is hoping they will honor his contract and let her take his place. She literally has no where else to go and she needs to make a name for herself. As you can imagine, it's 1871 and the army isn't exactly keen to take a woman along on a topographical expedition, but Meg has an in! The leader of the expedition is none other than her old beau and she convinces him to let her come with; after all the cook is female, she won't be alone. They embark on an adventure with beautiful scenery, danger lurking around the corner, and a great sense of adventure. If Meg and Ben play their cards right, who knows, they may find themselves falling back in love with each other. This trip has them realizing that they shouldn't have given up on each other so easily the first time. Romantic, wholesome, and unique. A great romantic adventure that inspirational readers will eat up! I can't wait for the next in the series!

Bringing Down the Duke

A historical romance that is not only witty, but a tad bit steamy too! Certain plot lines read right out of a Jane Austen novel, but that only served to make the book more enjoyable! In her mid-twenties, Annabelle is practically a spinster, she convinces her closest relations to let her study at Oxford (now that women can attend) and finds herself getting more and more involved in the women's suffragette movement. While she's busy trying to recruit men to the cause she stumbles into Duke Montgomery, a dashing and infuriating man. Even though he is far above her station they keep finding their paths crossing. He is so insufferably attractive and witty; it would be easier if she could just hate the man and move on with her life. Soon they are both wanting to rip off each others clothes, but Annabelle has a lot more to lose if a scandal occurs. Charming, steamy, and unerringly witty; a nice romantic read.

The Summer Wives

Atmospheric and beautiful; this historical coming of age novel of romance, mystery, and murder is hard to put down. Alternating between three timelines, but all set on a small ritzy island where the divide between the "families" who summer there and the islanders who live there year round is palpable and unchanging. When Miranda's mother meets and marries a rich islander in the early fifties they move to the island and Miranda becomes better acquainted with her new stepfather and stepsister. Miranda has no idea how quickly her life will change when she starts to crush on the boy next door (aka the lighthouse next door). The story alternates between that seemingly idyllic summer as a teenager and her life as a famous actress returning to the island nearly two decades later. There is a lot of unanswered questions about what happened that summer and how the ripples of their actions changed everything. Intrigue, secrets, murder, cocktails, romance, and more. For fans of historical romance.
