The Third Gilmore Girl

I adored this audiobook narrated by the actress herself. It was charming and engaging and wasn't too long. The perfect memoir. I only knew Kelly Bishop from Gilmore Girls so it was a real treat getting to learn more about her life, her career on Broadway, TV, and films. Kelly seems like such an enduring and insightful person and I love that she didn't just gloss over her life, she bared a lot. Listening this really makes me want to do another Gilmore Girls re-watch! 

In Conclusion, Don't Worry About It

This was a perfectly adequate, mildly encouraging and uplifting book. It's Lauren Graham's commencement speech with random little drawings (I hope a kid drew them!). Personally I've listened to (and read) better more empowering commencement speeches, but this one wasn't bad (just not great). She uses her acting career (specifically her theater carer) to illustrate the highs and lows of life. The only people who will read this are fans of the actresses work, which is ok. I don't see this being a big graduation gift, but I could be wrong. Again, a little meh, if you want to read; get it from your local library.

Talking As Fast As I Can

A cute little memoir narrated by Lorelei Gilmore herself. In this relatively short (it may have seemed shorter than it was since she is such a fast talker!) memoir Lauren Graham talks about growing up, getting started in acting, her breakthrough role in Gilmore Girls, some good times on the set of Parenthood, writing her first novel and finally her return to Gilmore Girls. It's a fun beachy read and I definitely recommend listening to the audiobook version because her narration of it, helps make it seem more real and personal. Plus she's got a great voice and she's not afraid of breaking out into song. Her little insides to Gilmore Girls helps make me appreciate the show that much more. Slightly above other celebrity memoirs, but not by much.

Someday, Someday, Maybe

I definitely think that listening to the audiobook is the way to go on this because not only does Lauren Graham read her story but she breathes life into that may not have been found when physically reading the novel. Set in 1995, Someday, Someday, Maybe, tells the story of a twenty something single white female trying to become an actress in New York City. Faced with her own self imposed deadline, Franny has only six months left to get herself a real acting or theater job. Juggling acting class, work at the comedy club, and romantic feelings towards a fellow actor, Franny keeps the readers hilariously entertained with her clutzy, naive antics, and charming wit. Laugh out loud funny, cringingly embarrassing, and completely eye opening, this novel is a must read for any Gilmore Girl's fan or anyone interested in making it as an actress. My only real complaint is that the book ended a little too abruptly for my taste.
