It Ends with Us

FINALLY. This has only been the most hyped up book of the past year or two. It was good... but not THAT good. The message was important, but I think I would have enjoyed this a little more had it not been so hyped up. I felt too much pressure to become obsessed with this book. I thought it did an excellent job portraying what domestic abuse looks like. It's not clear cut, the abuser is often times the person who truly loves you the most - it's hard and complicated and I think It Ends with Us did an amazing job portraying that. The note from the author and the acknowledgments helped bump my rating from a 3.5 to 4 out of 5.

Lily has worked hard to create a fresh start from her childhood. She left her hometown and fled her parents abusive relationship. When her father dies she is relieved. She'll never live that way and vows to only be with a man who loves her, someone like her childhood love, Atlas. Then she meets Ryle; a talented, sexy neurosurgeon who knows how to make her laugh and he is everything she has wanted in a man. But he may have some baggage of his own and staying with could compromise everything she has worked so hard to achieve.

Verity

Well I finally read this to see what all the hype was about. Verity is a gothic thriller with some smut thrown in for good measure. It's not bad, but it could have been more. I wasn't as wowed by the twist ending as many readers were. When Lowen Ashleigh finds herself hitting rock bottom after her mother's slow death and her fast growing financial ruin, she is courted by a man wanting an author to finish his wife's famous book series after she's been in a debilitating accident. Lowen is in fact a published author and this is an offer she can't refuse, she is currently in the process of getting evicted. She drives out to the house to meet with the husband and go through his wife's office to get a feel for the book series. What she doesn't expect is to find a hidden biographical manuscript and to start falling for her husband. The story alternates between Lowen getting comfy in the house to the hidden manuscript. It's ok - a little on the nose, but fairly fast paced.

Hopeless

Out of all the new adult I've read so far, this one has dealt with the most"grown up" issues, which is impressive when you realize that this book features two high school students. Socially awkward and technology impaired, Sky, convinces her mom to let her attend her senior yea of high school in an actual school. Homeschooled for her entire life, she wants to see what it's like to be surrounded by her peers.  While there she encounters Holder, this sultry hott bad boy and the two have an instant connection. While getting to know him, Sky realizes that he's holding something back. When she finally finds out what it is her life will be shattered. The simple carefree life she had known is blown to bits and she has to discover if she has what it takes to find out the whole truth and pick up the pieces. Dark at times, but still rewarding. The young couples too good to be true romance though will have you hating every male you've ever known though, because none can possibly compete with the romantic and sexual prowess of Holder. Soo far probably my favorite novel in this genre.
