Unforgotten

While technically a standalone, Unforgotten is set in the same community as a few other novels by Shelley Shepard Gray and there are a few familiar Amish faces. There are two major storylines and four points of view. Bethann Hostetler is ready to move on with her life after nearly being raped years ago. Although she is looking forward, she has a hard time looking at Jay because he used to be friends with the man that tried to force himself on her. It's really a shame though, because Jay is a good man and has never had eyes for anyone else. Bethann's Englisher (non-Amish) cousin, Candace has just been crowned Miss Crittenden County, and is enjoying traveling around the county as an ambassador and inspiring young girls. The only problem is that someone is starting to stalk her and won't leave her alone online. The police send their newest recruit, Officer Ryan Murphy to escort Candace to her events. Ryan really admires Candace and soon he's catching feelings for her. Two besotted men, two women with trouble in their lives. What on earth could happen? Love that's what. Predictable and wholesome in the best ways.

Moving Forward

While this is the second in a series - it easily reads as a standalone. Shelley Shepard Gray has penned another firefighter romance in a small Colorado mountain town and as one can expect - there is definitely a happy ending. Greg is veteran and current firefighter. Staying busy at work helps keep his mind off of the horrors he experienced over in Iraq and Afghanistan. While at work he goes on a run and helps rescue a gorgeous women having heart issues. The two hit it off, but they are keeping secrets from each other - will they learn to trust each other enough to open up fully? Or will they keep their hearts locked down. Sweet, sentimental, and chaste. 

Coming Home

A nice breezy romance there was very chaste and heavy on second chances. A small town in Colorado got even smaller when Anderson Kelly returned home from serving in the military. He broke up with his high school sweetheart, Chelsea, as soon as he enlisted and hasn't really seen her since. He thought their breakup would be temporary and that she would wait for him while he grew up, but she went to college and got pregnant and his heart never fully healed. Chelsea, has regrets, but her son Jack is not one of them. It's hard being a single mom but she has a job that she loves and wonderful friends and neighbors. When Anderson comes back to their hometown to work as a firefighter she is surprised that her heart still feels a pull to him even though he broke her heart. Wholesome, sweet, and a quick inspirational romance that is the first in a series! 

Unforgiven

I thoroughly enjoyed this inspirational tale of second chances. Most of the Amish fiction I read tends to portray only the devout and practicing Amish. Unforgiven focuses on a woman who was shunned for divorcing her husband and an Amish man who went to prison and is unbaptized. Seth Zimmerman went to prison for accidentally murdering an Amish man who was assaulting a woman. Tabitha Yoder was a young woman who married a monster. She was physically and emotionally abused constantly, but she left her husband for good after he beat her so bad she miscarried their baby. These two outcasts find they have a lot in common and start to grow closer. A slow burn with lots of interesting side stories and characters. I was rooting for Seth and Tabitha the whole way!

Her Secret Hope

While not the strongest storyline in the Pinecraft series - this installment is a perfect conclusion to the series. Lilly Kurtz returns to Pinecraft for good, but not to be with a man. She is tired of living in the shadow of her adoption and wants to figure out life on her own. She takes a job as a maid in order to secure free housing and enjoys getting to reconnect with her best friends. The only thing is, even though she is so much closer to them, she has never felt further apart. They seem to speak their own language talking about husbands and kids and Lilly starts to feel left out. That's not what she wanted? Or is it? When Eddie Byler, an Amish guest at the inn, starts talking to her she feels a spark. Maybe there is something there, but she's nervous that if he gets too close he will be disgusted by her past. Can she let down her walls to let love in? Inspirational, heartwarming, and charming. I wish this series would continue!

A Christmas Courtship

This may be my favorite book in the series thus far. It's nice to read a romance about a widower and a man in his 40's, rather than Amish teens or adults in their 20s. Those are fine to read about, but it's nice to read about some more "realistic" relationships. There are two relationships unfolding at the same time, a bachelor trying to woo his neighbor and two teenagers who have long crushed on each other. Of course there are ups and downs, missed opportunities and mistakenly hurt feelings - but all eventually turns out for the best. Sickeningly sweet and charming - perfect for the holidays. I hope there are more in this series!

An Amish Surprise

The second book in the Berlin Bookmobile series is just as charming as the first. The only constant that carries over from book one is the librarian, Sarah Anne Miller. She starts to fall for one of her library patrons and agrees to go on a date with him - she hasn't been on the dating scene since before she was married and she's very nervous. Some of her library patrons are also having some difficulties. Miriam and Calvin have tried for years to have a baby and it's taking a toll on their young marriage. When Calvin strikes up a friendship with a ten year old foster kid he starts dreaming of growing their family through adoption, but he knows that his wife isn't on the same page. What will it take to make her see the situation differently?  And what about poor Miles, he's been a foster kid for so many years - will he ever have anything to look forward to? Charming and predictable. Nice clean fluff. 

A Perfect Amish Romance

I love the concept, a bookmobile librarian that turns into a bit of a matchmaker in Amish country. In this story we have not one romance, but THREE potential romances and one of them is set in motion by the librarian when Aaron Coblentz asks for help finding a tutor to help him study for the GED. He's keeping it a secret from his family, but he's not the only one with secrets. His tutor, Kayla Kauffman, has secrets aplenty about what's going on in her house. Her father can't hold down a job or be bothered paying the bills so Kayla is running herself ragged trying to make sure that everything stays afloat. Their secrets drive them apart at first, but when they open up it starts to draw them together. Thoroughly enjoyable, even if a bit cheesy at times.
