These Witches Don't Burn

First off, gorgeous cover. Second off, I'm soo pleased to read more teen books with diverse characters; nearly every one was gay or bi and it was so normalized. Hannah is a witch living in Salem, not one of those Wicca posers, a real live witch. To complicate matters, her ex-girlfriend is also in the coven. Hannah is trying to block her out, but she's everywhere. Her best friend however, is straight, supportive, and has no idea that Hannah is a witch. When she introduces one of her new dance-mates to Hannah, she develops a full blown crush, maybe this is what she needed to get over her ex! Suddenly though, her life and Veronica's is on the line. Someone must have found out they are witches and are trying to kill them. What if it's a blood witch, feared and deadly? Hannah will have to balance romance, school, work, family, magic, and sleep with one eye open. A fun read!

Bloodmoon

The thrilling conclusion to the Bloodmark trilogy is worth the wait and will leave readers' satisfied. Ashling has started to fulfill her prophecy and has become the Crimson Queen over all the packs. With the Bloodrealms behind her, her love for Grey even stronger, and the support of her pack she thinks that things might finally starting to go her way. . But she soon discovers that it isn't a cakewalk being queen, the problems and the tough decisions keep rolling in. Her guardian (and father like figure), Baran, has been captured by rogue and dangerous wolves who are intent on robbing Ashling of her power and position and will stop at nothing to undermine and destroy her. Fast paced and exciting this finale was hard to put down. I don't want to say too much more and spoil the ending, but trust me, it was great. This debut author knows how to suck readers in and will have a ready fan base of readers waiting for her next trilogy or stand alone.

Bloodmark Review and Giveaway

The first in a thrilling new teen paranormal romance trilogy, Bloodmark will resonate with fans of Twilight and werewolf romance. Combined with medieval lore and modern day high school drama, Bloodmark tells the story of a sixteen year old werewolf princess cast aside by her family and sent to live in America. Different from birth, Ashling was able to shapeshift as an infant, something no other werewolf could do without hitting puberty first. Always sheltered and hidden with her mom, Ashling had no idea how special and different she was until she started to be hunted by a menacing renegade werewolf. She learns that she is the answer to a centuries old prophecy and that she must be hidden far away to protect the werewolf clans. Sent to live with a werewolf posing as her uncle she must learn to live like an American teenager and drop all of her wolf-isms and wild Irish ways. She manages to catch on pretty quickly and immediately catches the eye of a hot young, motorcycle rebel named Grey. Even though he's human she finds herself inexplicably falling for him. What follows next is a hot and heavy romance (but not too hot!), and more danger as Ashling realizes that her nemesis has followed her to America. Will she be able to protect her new lover and her friends? What is her destiny? Can she combine the ways of Old Mother with her new teenage American identity and triumph? A wonderful introduction to a new trilogy that will leave readers wanting more. There is enough, lore, fantasy, romance, and teenage drama to make this a sure fire hit. Check out the next two in the series: Bloodrealms and Bloodmoon to see how Ashling and her lover fare.

Fool Moon

This series continues to get better and better. I'm only on the second one and I can't wait to continue the series. This is literally not one minute of downtime in this book. Every time you think wizard, Harry Dresden, is going to get a break all sorts of hell breaks loose. The book opens with Harry complaining how slow it's been, then BAM, werewolf action. As if werewolves couldn't be more deadly, Harry discovers that there are more than one type of werewolf out there, some impostors, some immortal, some cursed, ALL deadly and if things keep the way they're going he may have to face all of them. Werewolves, mobsters, and cops are all after Harry Dresden, how will he ever scrape through this one? Trust me, you have to read to find out and you won't be disappointed!

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven

Corey Taylor, that sly beast, has done it again. As if I wasn't awed enough by his first book he had to show himself up and wow me again. Well done.

As I've stated before, it's not fair that a musician (Corey is the lead singer of both Slipknot and Stone Sour) as talented as Corey Taylor has the amazing and uncanny ability to pick up writing and not just do it well, but do it fucking amazing! Save some for the rest of us buddy!

Anyhow, this book is not a sequel to his first foray into writing, "Seven Deadly Sins," but rather a philosophical debate and cache of stories about the paranormal, afterlife, and ghosts. Corey hilariously retells spooky events that have occurred to him and his friends throughout their lives and discusses the ethics and philosophies of the paranormal. His musings really get you thinking! Yes he may ramble a bit (thankfully, his ramblings are hilarious) but as he says:

But what do I know? I am a singer in a band.. I am prone to outbursts of profound berserker ramblings that fade into one-way lanes before over correcting to keep my Mopar mind on the road... I am the Buddha of babble - witness the vitriol and savor its profundity.

This book will make you think, you may not agree with what he says, but that's not the point, as Corey states,

No one here is going to scoff or judge or fuck with you. I will not allow it. That right there is a beautiful thing about new knowledge, really. It may be strange, and it may scare the fucking shit out of you, but you will wonder. YOU WILL WONDER.

Well I didn't get a chance to do all 12 hours of reading smut but instead I decided to write short mini reviews for all the smut I HAVE read. Here goes....

1. Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter Series
Granted it starts off quite tame. But by the 4th book in the series there is sex oozing everywhere. It's the age old story of a good girl trying to decide between the handsome vampire or the sexy werewolf. Except that there is blood and guts and gore and primal sex involved, plus lots of other paranormal creatures. I re-read the first 5 or 6 books every year. They are that good. Plus Marvel comics has released the first few books as graphic novels, which is insanely awesome. Not super smut, but there is definitely enough sexy-time to get your heart racing.

2. Justine by the Marquis De Sade
This was so raunchy I didn't even finish the whole book. And this was written in the eighteenth century!!!! After watching Quills, a fictional account of the Marquis de Sade's last days, I thought for sure that I could handle this. Boy was I wrong. Sadism is aptly named after this historical author of erotica. Read if you dare.

3. The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice
If you're into spankings and perverted Disney tales then this is the book for you. Anne Rice outdoes herself in this erotic work that opens up with sleeping beauty being awakened not with a kiss but by a violent raping. The story doesn't improve from there, it gets more violent and perverted. Not a light reading. There are more in this series, but one was more than enough for me.

4. 50 Shades of Gray Trilogy by E. L. James
Well everyone and their brother has read this recently so get off your butt and go read it to see what the fuss is about. Imagine twilight (because it is twilight fan-fiction) without paranormal creatures and with a lot more sex. The sex scenes are good, but the writing could use improvement. However, no one is reading this for the literary content so I might as well shut up, lol.

I'm sure I've read way more, but it's late and I'm tired. So that is my minor contribution for now.

Laters baby ;)
