Ms. Marvel: Time and Again

I had been a little meh about the last few volumes, but this one really renewed my love for this whole series. It really shows the stress of being a teenager, sometimes there are scarier things then fighting villains, like keeping secrets from your friends or trying to come to terms with your crush. Kamala Khan fights off the bad guys while navigating friendship, family, the future, and compassion. Cute while still being totally kick ass!

Ms. Marvel volume 8

Another solid installment in the Ms. Marvel series. Kamala comes to the rescue when the mayor's office has been overthrown and the new head honcho wants to round up anyone in New Jersey who has superpowers and make them register as "dangerous" or deport them. Kamala isn't about to let Jersey become Nazi Germany so she tries to put it a stop to the program even though it's clear that there are many people who would be happy to see everyone with superpowers gone.

Ms. Marvel: Damage Per Second

As the series progresses, Ms. Marvel makes it pretty clear that this series is intended for teens. Damage Per Second focused on getting teens and citizens to "rock the vote" and change politics by being involved, the second part focused on a computer virus that learned from people connected on the internet and started blackmailing Ms. Marvel and releasing people's secrets. Overall, not bad, but not very strong either.

Ms. Marvel: Civil War II

Admittedly not my favorite in the series, but it's still a good read and I'm not abandoning Ms. Marvel even though everyone else )in the comic) seems to be. Captain Marvel entrusts her to lead a group of cadets to help wipe out crime before it happens, at first she thinks it's great but the ethics of what she's doing doesn't really hit home until one of her friends is detained for thinking about frying an electrical grid. Her friends turn against her for holding him since he hasn't done anything wrong, and when she questions the morals of what she's doing Captain Marvel and her cadets turn against her too. It really is a civil war.

Ms. Marvel: Crushed

This series just keeps getting more impressive, the third installment is no exception. In this issue Kamala saves Loki from ruining the school dance, discovers that she isn't the only inhuman with super powers in Jersey, and meets the boy of her dreams; a desi boy who her parents would actually approve of. Life is going great... until it's not. hit hits the fan in a very big day. Can Ms. Marvel save the day, is the job too big for even her? Who are the people she can trust to back her up when she needs it? Solid installment and I can't wait for the next one!

Ms. Marvel: Generation Why

The second installment of Ms. Marvel did not disappoint! We get a fun furry sidekick, a beast of a dog named lockjaw, and we get to meet Marvel superhero Wolverine! In this installment, Ms. Marvel is still battling her first and only real enemy, the Inventor. She finds out that he's been using kids as some sort of battery to charge his weird creations and she is determined to put a stop to it. She runs into Wolverine, as he's looking for one of Jean Grey's missing students. Together they find her but she's in bad shape. She's in a coma and has been used as one of the Inventor's battery things! Along the way Ms. Marvel finds out some interesting things about herself and her generation. I cannot wait for the third one. Such a fun series!!

The hype surrounding this comic was well justified, I couldn't put it down, it was, simply put, one of the best comics I've read in a very long time! Kamala Khan isn't anything special, she's a teenage girl living in Jersey and trying to come to terms with her Pakistani heritage. She desperately wishes to be thin, blond, popular, and to have superpowers just like her role models do. One night she gets her wish but she quickly discovers that there is more to life than being popular. She has to decide what she wants and who she really is. In the meantime she pairs up with her best friend Bruno to stop a bad guy, The Inventor, and in the process try to avoid getting grounded by her parents. A remarkable and empowering read, suitable for everyone!
