The Love Haters

It sickens me how much I love all of Katherine Center's books. I eat them up every time, I have yet to be disappointed. She could write a book about two kitty litter executives falling in love and I would think that was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I FLEW through this rom-com. I couldn't put it down. The witty banter was top tier and I don't care how unbelievable or cheesy the plot was I drank it up like dehydrated man lost and wandering in the desert. Katie Vaughn has been sent to the Keys to film a promo for the US Coast Guard. She is a little nervous for two reasons, 1. her job is on the line so this has to be her best piece of work ever and 2. she has no idea how to swim. She loves being behind a camera but not when the stakes are so high. When she arrives in the Keys she immediately falls in love with Rue her landlady and aunt of the Hutch, the coast guard subject she is being paid to film. Hilarity follows along with some wrong assumptions, and a side of love. Perfect fluff. I'll have another!

The Rom-Commers

OMG! This book was amazing. Katherine Center knows how to get all the feels into her books. I legit laughed and cried. The characters were perfect and wonderfully flawed. The execution was top tier. When two screen writers find themselves working together on a romantic comedy will they get more than they bargained for? Yes, yes, and yes. Sweet, compelling, fantastic. Don't read any spoilers - just do yourself a favor and read this. It truly might be my favorite Katherine Center book ever!

Hello Stranger

I adored this book - honestly, I think it is my favorite Katherine Center book to date. The premise didn't initially wow me BUT - I was so wrong! It was executed perfectly and was unique and fun. Sadie Montgomery is a starving artist, for years she has wanted to prove it to her family that she can make it and a chance finally landed in her lap. She is a top 10 finalist in a national portrait contest and the grand prize is $10k! Maybe she can finally move out of her rooftop hovel that she shares with her dog Peanut?! But then tragedy strikes, she has a seizure, almost gets run over by a car, and has to have brain surgery. She recovers perfectly... except for the fact that she can no longer see faces. Swelling on her brain has caused face blindness, which for a portrait artist is cataclysmic. She has to learn to tell people apart by their walk, clothes, voice, and other mannerisms, and boy is it hard. While her life is falling apart she starts to fall for two different men, her veterinarian and the man whore who lives on the floor below her. What could go wrong. Charming, cute, redemptive, and wonderful. 

The Bodyguard

Laugh out loud and adorable - this romcom would be great on the big screen. It had great chemistry between the characters, a unique storyline, and amazing banter. Hannah Brooks may not look like a professional bodyguard, but don't let that fool you - she's been hired out all over the world to protect the wealthy elite. When she is put on assignment to guard Jack Stapleton, one of the biggest names in Hollywood she is pissed. Hannah has just been dumped and she wants an escape - she wants to go overseas and get the hell out of dodge - not stay right where she is and guard some celebrity hot shot. Despite her misgivings she goes on assignment - there is a catch though - she'll need to pose as Jack's girlfriend to fool his family. What could possibly go wrong? Sweet and fun - I loved it!

What You Wish For

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. People have been raving about Katherine Center's books for a while now and I didn't get the hype until I finally doubled down and read one of her novels. I went into this novel blind (all I knew was there was a school librarian in it) so I had no idea if it was going to be funny, a romcom, serious, etc. Honestly it's a mixture of those three things. Samantha Casey has her dream job - she's a school librarian at one of the most fun and progressive elementary schools. Her icon, neighbor, confidant, and school principal has just died and to her surprise they announce that the new principal will not be Max's wife - but Duncan - a teacher from Sam's past. Duncan was her biggest crush - the coolest, funniest, most engaging teacher she ever worked with. Rather than deal with her emotions around him she found a new school and hasn't thought of him since. But now he's going to be the principal and things are going to change in unexpected ways. Heartfelt, engaging, and filled with fun quirky characters who are trying to make it through life. I will definitely read another one of Katherine Center's books!
