Fables: Super Team

This installment was a "tiny" bit of a let down. Mr. Dark gets dealt with for the final time (we hope) we see the true side of Mrs. Pratt (I didn't love the story-line about fat women being ugly on the outside AND on the inside), and the fables (specifically Pinocchio have waay too much fun trying to pick out their super hero costumes to battle Mr. Dark. It wasn't as strong as some of the past volumes, but it did move the story forward and it was enjoyable, it just wasn't quite as up to snuff as some of the others have been. Never fear, I still plan on reading the rest of the series!

Fables: Rose Red

No complaints here - this series is as reliable as they come; I have yet to be let down by a volume and this is no exception. Not only does the plot get better, but we get a sweet back story on Rose Red and Snow White as well as lots of bonus content at the end. Mr. Dark is still menacing the fables and they soon have to make a hasty retreat from the Farm to the Haven. At least Rose Red got out of bed and finally made an effort to lead her people to safety, she's been moping for far too long since Blue's untimely death!

Fables: The Great Fables Crossover

What a fun crossover volume! Jack (of Jack and the Beanstack fame) has been exiled from the fables for a long, long time for his tricks and nonsense. But when he calls up Bigby and tells them about a new threat to Fables, the literals and who can rewrite the universe or destroy it, Bigby decides it's time to step in. Together they step in with a bunch of good literals: Revision, the Page sisters (badass librarian sisters), and others to try and save their lives and their universe. It's an ambitious and wonderful crossover. Rose Red is still a hot mess, Jack is up to his Shenanigans, and Bigby's temper is getting the better of him, and I loved every second of it!

Fables: The Dark Ages

Man, after everything was so "neatly" tied up in the last book, this one really screws with you. All the wonderful things that were accomplished came with a price. A very heavy price that none of the fables comprehended, not even Snow White or Frau Totenkinder. There is a power vacuum left behind after Gepetto is given amnesty and came to Fabletown. Not only is there a power vacuum, but many dark secrets that were hidden away were able to free themselves and they are now wreaking havoc on the homelands and in the mundy world. Shit is about to get serious. Grab some popcorn!

Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall

Another amazing installment in the Fables series. This one is more of a standalone that shows some of the backstories of characters. This volume is good to read before, after, or during the middle of the series; it doesn't spoil any of the series and helps flesh out some of the characters darker, more heroic, more foolhardy pasts. Each tale is illustrated by a different illustrator which helps keeps this volume fun and exciting. I loved all the stories in this collection and this is a must own for any Fables fan.

Fables: War and Pieces

This installment could very well end the series with the final all out battle taking place. Rather than ending though, it's simply the ending of a chapter and the beginning of a new one. Major sacrifices were made on both sides and the losses were high, but the build up of confrontation finally comes to a head and this installment was impossible to put down. The battle plans were amazing, and Fabletown really came together with creativity and ingenuity. Wonderful! I can only imagine where the series will go from here!

Fables: The Good Prince

I adored this one! Flycatcher has always been one of my favorite Fable characters and I've been dying to get more of his back story. Flycatcher has been wallowing in misery unsure of how to go about living not knowing whether his family is alive or dead in the homelands. Deep in his heart, he knows it's not good. When Bufkin accidentally breaks the Forsworn Knight his spirit is set free and starts to guide Flycatcher. Together they sneak into the Homelands and created the strongest, purest little kingdom that is fast becoming a huge thorn in the adversary's side. Go Flycatcher go!

Fables: Sons of Empire

Another amazing installment. After Bigby's blow to the Adversary, things go momentarily quiet. But really it's just the calm before the storm. Will this be all out war? Fabletown has been playing it smart but was Bigby's attack going too far? I also enjoyed the little side story about Snow White, Bigby, and the kids going back to the homelands to visit Bigby's estranged father as well as the short vignette's about reader's questions. Great fun!

Fables: Wolves

I've only been waiting FOREVER for more Bigby action!!! After Bigby's self-exile from Fabletown, Prince Charming decides that enough is enough. He sends Mowgli to track down where in the world the wolf went. Prince Charming has a plan and he can't do it without Bigby. He promises to find a way for Bigby to be with Snow White and their children, which is all that Bigby really wanted anyways. The task he's given is beyond dangerous but he's definitely the man for the job. Nothing will get between him and his family.

Fables: Arabian Nights (and Days)

I thought this one was fun because we get to meet one of the many world contained in the homelands; the Arabian Empire. So far the Adversary hasn't taken over their lands, but it's only a matter of time. An emissary from their land comes to Fabletown for talks and things escalate quickly when Prince Charming discovers they brought a jinn with them. It's the most destructive magical thing in existence and it could drastically change the direction of their alliance talks.

Fables: The Homelands

I love getting more back story. The further these graphic novels go on, the more fleshed out the setting and characters are. I know I keep saying it but it literally keeps getting better and better! Each installment is five star worthy!

Fables: The Mean Seasons

The plot thickens! The Mean Seasons isn't just one story-line, there are several side stories, back stories and different threads that pick up where volume four left off. Snow White is in labor (is there more than one baby in there?!?), the mayoral election between king Cole and Prince Charming is getting heated, and where in the hell has Little Boy Blue run off to this time? I particularly like the World War II backstory of Bigby; it's like a movie! Monsters and Nazis, oh my! Another amazing volume, this series is money in the bank!

Fables: March of the Wooden Soldiers

Seriously, this series is gold. Each volume gets even better. As if Fabletown didn't have enough drama to deal with eternally, they may have a new threat. It's been nearly two centuries since anyone escaped from their ancestral land and made it into the mundy world. Red Riding Hood shows up out of the blue, somehow having escaped the adversary, but something isn't right. Bigby Wolf thinks she might be a spy so he sets about trying to prove it. Meanwhile a very large and very pregnant Snow White must keep the peace and keep Fabletown going while Bigby is off collecting evidence. Love it!!!

Fables: Storybook Love

This is definitely one of my favorites because we finally get a little bit of action between Snow White and Bigby, I've only been shipping them for forever! Besides that plot thread there are some interesting other little side stories between Bluebeard and Prince Charming and then of course the tale of the barley-corn which I ADORE. Another great installment of Fables that hooks readers in. I love this series and I love how much character development is added each issue!
